Home from vacation

While we unloaded the car Saturday night when we got home- we didn't unpack it until Sunday.  We bought Aiden a few things on the trip.

The first would be a tunnel.  Aiden loves the tunnel at the play place in the mall, so we thought he'd enjoy one at home- and he does!

More hats!  And yes, he is wearing the same outfit from the other hats post.  Don't worry- we washed it.  Aiden just can't get enough of hats, especially if Daddy is wearing one.

Can I help vacuum?

Another purchase we made at IKEA was this storage unit.  I wanted something to put Aiden's toys in, that was more organized than a giant tub.  After about 30 minutes, Doug had this assembled- pretty impressive!
This is a 'before' shot- before Aiden discovered how the tubs came out.

Aiden found a new way to use this... we'll have to be careful he doesn't climb all the way up!  He is such a monkey!

'After' Aiden discovered the tubs.  So much for being organized.  Aiden undid all my sorting by putting the toys in whichever bin he preferred...

About a month ago Target had a sale on bikes and bike carriers.  Doug had been itching to get a bike, so it was good timing.  This was the first time we went out for a ride.  (I only lasted about 2 blocks... it was hot and I was tired!)  Aiden really enjoyed it!

YEAH!

Drinking lots of water!

And off they go!

Chicago- Cubs Game

On Friday we headed to a game at Wrigley Field to watch the Cubbies take on the Cardinals (boo).  We sprung for some better seats than the bleachers (I wanted my own seat with a back!) and we got awesome seats!  We were along the third-base line, even with the Cubs bullpen mound, five rows up.  Very neat!

Players you may recognize:
Luis Valbuena, David DeJesus, Starlin Castro, ?? Lane (bullpen catcher), Bryan LaHair, Anthony Rizzo, and Geovany Soto (catching).

Starting pitcher: Wood

Marmol- never actually pitches this game.

I won't bore you with the details of the game, but the Cubs unfortunately lost 6-9.  They did win the next two games, though, to take the series! Go Cubs Go!

Chicago- Navy Pier and Cirque Shanghai

So one of the things I wanted to do in Chicago was see Cirque Shanghai.  And it was AWESOME!  The show was at Navy Pier, so we took in those sights as well.

We ate at the Billy Goat- famous from Saturday Night Live- Cheezborger...

In front of the Ferris Wheel

We didn't actually get to ride it... ran out of time before the show.

Ouch!

Double Ouch

Yes- they are all balancing on a bike while ONE girl is pedaling it.

These guys ran around in the cages, similar to gerbils.  Then one would climb out and run on the outside- scary!

There were 5 motorbikes (??) in the cage at once!

The bikers- and one was a girl.

A shot back at the city.

Chicago- Wrigley Tour

After the family vacation in Sheboygan, Doug, and I (Jeff too) headed to Chicago.  Aiden went to Cedar Falls with Grandma and Grandpa Goodenbour for a few days.  The trip was Doug and I's anniversary presents to each other (3 years June 27).  We had a very packed 3 days.  On Thursday (the day we arrived) we went on a tour Wrigley Stadium.  We got in town a little early, so we decided to grab lunch.  After an accidental detour- we discovered Hot Dougs!  Jeff had heard good things, so we decided to stop there.

The line waiting just to get in to the restaurant.

Doug and Jeff, almost to the door!

On to the tour at Wrigley. Very cool and I highly recommend it- even if you aren't a Cubs fan.  It was a lot of walking (and stair climbing), but definitely worth it.

Doug from the press box.

What a view!!  The #10 was mowed into the field in honor of Ron Santo being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The famous organ you hear.

Heading down from the press box.

A picture of the men installing the famous ivy.  They were given 72 hours to get the whole field done- can you imagine?!?

In the clubhouse- yep, that's actually their stuff.

In the dugout.  I even spit to make it more authentic- just kidding, but I should have.

Pots, Pans, and Hats

While the adults were trying to pack up to leave Sheboygan- Aiden found ways to entertain himself...  this is why we have latches on our cabinets at home...

"Ooh, what's in here?"

Trying to look innocent

Pushing out all the pots and pans

Get out of here!

Hmm, I think I can stand up

Success- they're all out!

Trying to get out of the cupboard

'Surfing' on the pots

Woohoo

"I'm the King of the Pots"

Look what I found!
