Baby's Room Part 2

All the painting is done and it looks fabulous!  My (our) next project is to reorganize the closets and find a place for everything in the computer room.  As some of you know, this used to be our guest bedroom.  We are moving the bed into the computer room, which means we have some stuff to get rid of!  It's a bit of organized chaos right now with things in new places.

And here they are after.  It took two coats, but they look great!

We already have a bookshelf and 2 dressers we plan to use in the room.  However, they were too close to the wall color.  We decided to paint them dark brown (hoping to match the crib and changing table).  This was the bookshelf before.

All done with the walls- they look great!

Doug did all the painting.  He said he didn't want the fumes to hurt me or the baby.  I was glad to oblige!

Blizzard of 2011

On Tuesday, January 25th, the blizzard started.  It snowed through the night and all through the next day.  On top of the 12 inches of snow we got, there were 40 mph winds.  After having a very mild winter, and no snow days, the snow was a bit overwhelming.  I had no school Wednesday or Thursday and Doug did not have work Wednesday.

I creeped on our neighbor out the upstairs window.  He was shoveling out their cars.  I'm glad we had our driveway plowed!

Baby Stuff

On Sunday we went to Target to look at baby stuff.  They had cribs on sale- and they came with a free mattress.  We couldn't pass up this great deal- so we bought one.  Of course we didn't think about the size of the box and the size of our trunk/car... yep, it didn't fit.  So, Doug, thinking quickly, suggested we just take it out of the box.  With the help of two wonderful Target workers (one not wearing a coat and it was freezing out!), we were able to get all the pieces in the car.  We then headed to Lowes to see if we could get a paint sample.  We had already narrowed our color choice down, so getting the sample was easy and we picked up a paint brush (we don't have any yet) and some painters tape.

When we got home, we couldn't wait to put the paint on the wall- so we did.  Just a little behind the door to see if we really liked- which we did.  The room isn't big, so we didn't want to bright/strong of a color.  We are also planning on adding dark brown and blue accents.  After the paint, we put the crib together.  Since we're having guests next week, we didn't want to put it in the baby's room yet, so we put it together in our room.  We made sure it would fit out our bedroom door, so we could eventually transport it the baby's room.  So we put part of it together and it went pretty smoothly.  We decided to store it in the laundry room.  Well, when we measured to see if it would fit through the door, we weren't thinking about the new pieces that we added to the sides, so now it didn't fit through the door.  We had to undo half our work and decided to leave it at that.  We'll finish putting it together when it's actually in the baby's room.
